An Energistics schema can use EPSG codes for geolocalization as part of defining a CRS. The EPSG database includes geodetic parameters and assigned codes for easy reference to well-known global locations (http://www.epsg-registry.org/ ).
The EPSG codes database is maintained and published by the Geomatics Committee of the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (OGP http://www.ogp.org.uk/ ), which absorbed the now-defunct European Petroleum Survey Group (EPSG) (http://www.epsg.org/ ). The OGP is considered to be the single global source for positioning advice, guidance, and formats provision for the upstream oil and gas industry.
